About Flight Adventures New Zealand

We have set up this venture to offer overseas pilots the opportunity to explore the wonderful country of Aotearoa, the land discovered by Kupe around 950AD.

Due to our small population and pristine environment we believe we have one of the most enjoyable outdoors to explore in a leisurely manner via air, in a self flown adventure with a local pilot as a guide. Aircraft offered are C172 which have high wing for better viewing, four place configuration to allow more than one to go on the flight, room for baggage and performance suitable to handle the airstrips and terrain requirements. Based at Whitianga airfield, only 2 km from the seaside township, we offer a relaxed location to operate from.

Water adventure including game fishing, diving, sailing, glass bottom boat tours, golf, walking, cycling, wining and dining, driving, flying, hunting are all part of living and working in the Coromandel area of NZ. A marine park is located just offshore and large areas of local terrain are managed by DOC to control pests which affect the local wild life.

Many of the original gold mining tracks are accessible by the local tramping/bush walking clubs and offer interesting historical highlights of the early settlement activities in the Coromandel. Adventuring further afield in the C172 leads to trout fishing, aviation museums, bush walking, food and wine enjoyment in our renown vineyards of Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa, strip flying and meeting interesting local identities. River riding activities can be arranged as can kayaking adventures. AeroClub flyins are also part of the opportunities if they coincide with a planned visit.

About Wally

Wally Pendray is the owner operator of the business and has been the instigator in the planning of this flight adventure operation based on his lifelong love of flight.

Wally has  previously been an airline pilot, a Chief Pilot for a large Papua New Guinea operator, a bush pilot, a parachute drop pilot, a parachutist, more recently a microlight pilot, a world traveller and lived in Australia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and New Zealand (country of origin). Wally's wife, Anne, has enjoyed this far reaching exploration activity since the early years in Western Australia.

Whitianga has been home since moving from Wellington, NZ to the new hangar home in September 2013

Being a microlight aircraft owner for the last 6 years has allowed Wally to explore throughout New Zealand and so establish the baseline for instigating this adventure.
