By allowing our local pilots to attend to the normal duties such as refuelling, hangaring, loading, flight planning, weather interpreting, the visiting pilot's holiday becomes less stressful and more relaxed with otherwise attractive local airports and opportunities missed through being unfamiliar with a country and airspace they they do not normally operate in.
NZCAA requirements can be prepared in advance of your arrival to ensure a trouble free transition into the NZ Private Pilot licence validation procedure. http://www.caa.govt.nz/pilots/Flight_Crew_Recognition_Info.pdf
A BFR ( Biennial Flight Review) with a Category B flight instructor can be arranged once in Whitianga.
Transport can be arranged to and from Auckland International Airport
We have a two bedroom self contained apartment to start you off in Whitianga as part of your Flight Adventure or other local accommodation can be arranged within the township. Whilst the apartment is not air conditioned it does have ceiling fans for summer cooling. The apartment is double glazed for comfort and noise control though Whitianga airfield is not hugely busy with regards to aircraft noise.
Meals can be taken at the wide variety of local restaurants which have menus of international cuisine or self catering is also an option with the apartment kitchenette having its own refrigerator, microwave oven, small hot plate, and sink. Use of BBQ is also an interesting option if you prefer to cook your own self caught fish or locally dug pipis and cockles.
Flight tours can be programmed with regard to the prevailing weather to get the most enjoyable conditions. Being an Island country located in the "roaring forties" we do have a variable weather system that is not always as settled as those used to continental climate patterns.
Our pilot/Tour guide is provided to assist in obtaining the maximum enjoyment of the Flight Adventure.
