A group of North Island pilots fly south to Masterton to collect another of the 9 aircraft team to fly onwards to the South Island New Zealand. This was initially planned after last years 4 day successful flying/camping holiday around North Cape visiting farm strips and remote airstrips along the way. By departure day 2 pilots had removed themselves due to other commitments and another two elected to travel after the imminent adverse weather had passed by. Therefore 4 aircraft departed Whitianga on 1 February to begin the adventure.
The completion of our multi aircraft southern adventure had us split into multiple groups to end the southern adventure 24. Always more to explore next time 🤪👋
Microlight flying south to Queenstown New Zealand for the Around the Mountains Cycle Trail before flying north to Whitianga via Rangiora, Nopera, Turangi
Leaving Whitianga for Mata Airstrip was the start of the adventure which led on to the return to Whitianga for refuel then dispatch with my adventure gear on board. Direct to the Desert Road and onwards to Masterton, Kaikoura, Rangiora, Alexandra to Queenstown. This allowed the Round the Mountains cycle trail to be commenced.
